Our Trip to Hawaii

Travis and I just got back from our trip to Hawaii. We had a blast! We went to the "Big Island." Neither of us had ever been there before so it was an awesome adventure. We went to Maui when I was pregnant with Hailey but believe me Hawaii is way more fun when you're not pregnant (sorry mel).
We found this great little hole-in-the-wall place for fish tacos. It was called "Killer Tacos!" We liked it so much we ate there twice.
Because this was a State Farm Trip we were lucky to have some really good friends with us. We know Lance and Melanie because Lance also has State Farm Agency. We have become very good friends. They were also with us in Italy last year and both trips have been a blast. It is so great to travel with fun people.

This is when we went Kayaking and snorkeling at Captain Cook's Cove.
There were turtles everywhere! This is just one of 15 pictures we have with turtles. When we went swimming they were all over the place.

I am calling this picture "My ladies!" I'm sure most of you will know what that means.
This is a beautiful spot called "the Boiling Pots"

This is the Waipio Valley. We hiked all the way down to the beach. The sign said you must be in iron-man plus condition in order to hike up this 25% grade trail. Another sign said "Don't even think about taking your rental car down to the valley." I don't know what we were thinking but we hiked down in no time. Then me and our pregnant friend Melanie hitched a ride back up with some local surfers. The boys weren't so lucky! (or so we thought)

Okay so I think you all know that Travis is not in iron-man plus condition. He's not even iron-man minus condition. So we were very surprised to see the boys coming up the trail shortly after me and Melanie were dropped off by the surfers. They barely had time to run up the extremely steep trail.

Turns out that someone had taken pity on them and given them a ride. Then the boys had a great idea to hop out just before the last turn so they could tell us that they had hiked it. I guess the boys never stop trying to impress the girls with macho-man antics!

I can't believe the tropical vegetation. Look at this huge leaf!

It was so fun to be together without the kids. We left them with our usually babysitter Heather, and her sister Amanda. They are the BEST BABYSITTERS EVER! every time we called home the kids were happy and having a blast. And most importantly Ethan never missed a medication or eye drop. Oh and the house was spotless when we came home Heather even organized my pantry. NO she is not excepting other babysitting gigs.
Our hotel was so awesome it was on 45 acres of beach front property. They had hammocks and lounge beds every where.

Hi Mary and Travis - It looks like you guys have been having a lot of fun lately! It's fun to catch up via blog stalking :) James and I were thinking of leaving the boys and going on a trip in a few months. Do you mind if I ask what the going rate is for someone to come watch your kids? Hopefully we'll see you guys sometime soon!
